Dear Friends & Family,

I’m writing for a very special cause – beating cancer. On August 5th & 6th. I’ll be involved in something called the Relay For Life. The Relay, which is the National Signature Event for the American Cancer Society, is an 18-hour celebration of life in honor and memory of those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Our goal is to keep one team member walking or jogging around a track for the entire event. And it’s all done to raise money to fight cancer. The event will be held at Washington County Fair Park. I’m writing to ask for your support in the cause, either by supporting my team effort with a tax-deductible donation, or by getting involved yourself. I’m trying to raise money in hopes of finding a cure for cancer in the near future. Last year, the West Bend Relay for Life raised $260,000. This year the goal is to raise more money and have 110 teams.

In addition to sponsoring the walking part of the Relay, Luminary bags can be bought to honor someone you know who has beaten cancer or is currently battling it, or in memory of someone who was taken away from us because of it. These luminary bags line the track at night – each one with someone’s name written on it. You cannot believe how many bags line the track. Walking among the thousands of candle-lit bags at night is a very sobering and humbling experience.

Either way you donate, through a regular donation or by buying luminary bags, you’re helping to find a cure, and helping those diagnosed with cancer have a better life.
